Hello friends,
For many of us, change is in the stars. Some astrologers say this spring’s total solar eclipse affected many people by creating turning points and offering opportunities for growth and transformation. I believe it has affected me in that way. How about you?
Women Take Charge in Sports
It seems the eclipse had a big impact on women’s basketball – both women’s college and professional basketball. The NCAA Women's Final Four started soon after the eclipse. First, women’s college basketball peaked with the women’s finals TV ratings exceeding the men’s. And now in June, suddenly everyone can watch most of the WNBA professional women’s basketball games on TV networks and streams. Plus, arenas are selling out, with seats for some games going for as much as $350+ per ticket. Women’s basketball is so hot that male sports journalists all want to share their opinions and too often they are still trying to put women in their place. Read about it in my recent blog post and enjoy. Feel free to share your thoughts, and don’t forget to connect with me!
Me and the Solar Eclipse
While some things in my life continue, like the Executive Women’s Leadership Program I lead at The George Washington University and my business coaching practice for women executives and entrepreneurs, soon after the eclipse, I revisited my personal vision – to create a world where gender equity is a given and no longer a goal. I asked myself, ‘Was my ‘Her Circle Leadership Coach Training Program’ the fastest way to progress toward my vision at this time of my life? Or was there a faster, better way?’ Through peer-to-peer coaching and deep thought, I decided that achieving my vision meant putting on my ‘author’ hat again.
The first new book, Start with Vision, is due out on Oct. 1st. Everyone who has ever worked with me knows the number one step I teach and coach is discovering one’s true vision. Absolutely no one succeeds at the highest levels without identifying where they want to go. This book is an updated version of my book Link Out published in 2013 by Wiley. The new book goes much deeper because I will be sharing so much of what I have learned in the past ten years. Then in 2025, book two will be released. Stay tuned to hear more about both books. A quick note of thanks goes to my peer coach Christine Merser.
And now for some inspiring & engaging summer reading ....
An extraordinary woman in my circle of success is Christine Merser, influential author, marketing guru, and peer coach. We meet together weekly; one half hour for her, and one half hour for me. For years. Since the pandemic. Our contribution to each other's growth over the past few years cannot be underestimated. In fact, because of our collaboration, I have book # two coming out in January 2025, called Circles of Collaboration. What a journey we are having researching and surmising our philosophy around circles of success.
More on that later; but what I want to share with you is more immediate and it’s for your summer reading pleasure - Christine's amazing novel that just came out, Flight of the Starling.
I have read it. I loved it. It's a riveting story about a wealthy divorced woman, living a rich life in Palm Beach, New York City and the Hamptons, who is asked by her billionaire friend to go into Saudi Arabia on a black ops mission to find and extract his daughter, who was trafficked more than twenty-five years earlier. This is a story about three courageous women, two women who are committed to support women, and one woman whose bitterness took her down a path to do horrible things. It's filled with women's choices, growth and awakening. And, all this in a beach read for summer. I promise you will be glad you read it. I love amazing insight clothed in a great novel.
Have a wonderful summer!
